Winter Holidays in Flachau

Explore the beautiful winter landscape of the Salzburger Sportwelt around Flachau with your family, and away from the ski slopes. Enjoy cross-country skiing, winter hiking, or a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride. A traditional toboggan run definitely guarantees all kinds of fun and excitement! Or maybe you'd like to try your hand at the sport known as “ice stock” and be crowned the new "Moar"? Just step outside the hotel, and you’ll already be right in the middle of the action! And after all your winter adventures, warm up in our spacious "feel well" oasis or over a toast, hot drink in the hotel bar.

Cross-Country Skiing in Flachau, Ski amadé

With over 220 km of excellently maintained trails and all difficulty levels—most of which are tracked for both classic and “skating” styles—the Salzburger Sportwelt is a top destination for cross-country skiing.

Just 100 meters from the hotel, you can access the 50 km long Tauernloipe, which connects Flachau, Wagrain, St. Johann-Alpendorf, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, and Untertauern. The ski bus (with a stop right here at the hotel) will take you to various sections of the trails.

Tobogganing in Flachau

A traditional sledding expedition is a must for any perfect winter vacation. In Flachau and Flachauwinkl, there are actually four toboggan runs (some floodlit after dark) for you to choose from, each between 3 and 4 km long. You don’t need to bring along your own sled either, of course, since they are available for you to rent next to the runs.

Winter Hiking & Snowshoeing

Get your heart pumping on 40 km of cleared hiking trails in a healthy climate at 1,000 meters above sea level. Breathe deeply and enjoy the beautiful nature of Salzburger Land in Ski amadé to the max.

By the way, it’s only about 100 meters from our Hotel Felsenhof to the winter hiking path alongside the Tauernloipe.

Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides through Flachau

A ride on a horse-drawn sleigh is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and romantic ways to explore Flachau and Salzburger Land in winter. Cozily wrapped up in warm blankets, glide with your family through the magical winter landscape. And your coachman will definitely have plenty of interesting and amusing stories to tell along the way.

Ice Stock in Flachau

This traditional sport combines fun, skill, the fresh winter air, and high-spirited local hospitality. It’s all about developing the right arm swing to get as close to the target (known as a “Taube”) as possible. The enjoyment is cranked up a notch or two if you actually hit the opponent team’s ice stock, causing their expected victory to suddenly, literally and figuratively, “slip away.” But it’s never over until it’s over …
